- IIT Mandi’s Centre for Innovative Technology for the Himalayan region has developed a machine that can produce briquettes and pellets from pine needles, which are harmful to the environment when they accumulate on the forest floor.
- The machine will be used to prevent stubble burning and provide a sustainable source of biofuel for various industries. The state government is supporting the project and plans to set up more such plants in Himachal Pradesh.
