  • The Global Biofuel Alliance (GBA), an initiative launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to facilitate the adoption of biofuels as a key component of energy transition and reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Gauri Singh, Deputy Director General of the International Renewable Energy Agency, said that India can contribute to the GBA by innovating business models that can organise the biomass supply chains and benefit the farmers and the economy.
  • She also said that biofuels can provide 15-16% of global energy consumption by 2050, if the cost of technology comes down and the use of waste stock like rice is increased.
