- BASF has begun production of its first bio-based polyol, Sovermol, at its Mangalore facility in India – the first of its kind in the Asia Pacific region. The Mangalore site was strategically chosen due to its proximity to raw material supplies, reducing transportation time.
- BASF’s Mangalore site, in operation since 1996, is the company’s largest production facility in South Asia, producing polymer dispersions, fine chemical catalysts, and coatings for various industries.
- The new bio-based polyol production facility serves the fast-growing demand for eco-friendly products in applications such as new energy vehicles, wind turbines, flooring, and protective industrial coatings in the Asia Pacific region.
