  • The bio-based aerogel insulation material developed by SA Dynamics is used in the construction sector for energy-efficient building insulation

Description

SA-Dynamics, a German start-up, has developed bio-based, recyclable insulation textiles made from 100% bio-based aerogel fibers from cellulose. These textiles trap up to 90% air in nano-pores, providing insulation comparable to fossil-based materials like PET and mineral wool. The solution is designed to reduce energy consumption and carbon footprint by replacing synthetic materials with sustainable alternatives. This innovation has earned the company the second Innovation Award for sustainability and recycling at Techtextil and Texprocess.

Pathway Description:

The process used in the SA-Dynamics project involves the synthesis of bio-based aerogel fibers from sustainably sourced raw materials, which are processed to create a nano-pore structure that traps air for insulation. The aerogel fibers undergo fiber spinning to form recyclable insulation textiles with high thermal efficiency. These textiles are then fabricated and tested to ensure they meet industry standards for insulation performance. Finally, the resulting materials are certified and optimized for applications in construction and other sectors.
