Description IIT Jodhpur, bio-jet fuel, sustainable aviation, plant-based biomass, iron catalystResearchers at IIT Jodhpur have developed a sustainable method to produce bio-jet fuel using a reusable iron-based catalyst (Fe/Silica-Alumina) with non-edible oils and waste biomass, reducing production costs. The aviation industry, consuming over 800 million liters of petroleum fuel daily, can benefit significantly from this eco-friendly alternative, which emits fewer greenhouse gases. The catalyst operates under mild conditions, is recyclable up to 50 cycles, and offers high efficiency, making it economically and environmentally viable.
Pathway Description: The process used in this project involves the conversion of waste biomass into bio-jet fuel through a catalytic process using a Fe/SiO2 catalyst
