Application

  • The LignoGuard ingredient developed by Lignovations is primarily used in the cosmetics industry. It serves as a natural UV filter, reducing the need for synthetic and mineral-based UV filters in photoprotection products. Additionally, it functions as a natural antioxidant and emulsion stabilizer, making it suitable for sensitive skin formulations.

Description

Lignovations has developed LignoGuard, a multifunctional ingredient made from upcycled biomass, utilizing Lignova raw material sourced from forestry and wood industry residues like sawdust, woodchips, and low-quality hardwood. The ingredient is manufactured without the use of undesired chemicals, ensuring a sustainable and eco-friendly production process. It has received COSMOS eco-certification, highlighting its commitment to environmental responsibility and natural sourcing.

Pathway Description:

The process used in this project involves sourcing locally generated wood residues like sawdust and woodchips, extracting lignin to create the Lignova raw material, and upcycling it through chemical treatments to produce LignoGuard, a multifunctional ingredient for cosmetic applications.
