Application
Description Chazence, founded by product designer Calvin Sio, upcycles used tea leaves into biodegradable plastic alternatives. The startup transforms tea waste into various eco-friendly products like packaging, cups, and furniture using patented technologies. This sustainable innovation aims to reduce food and plastic waste while preserving tea's cultural significance. Chazence's products decompose naturally in soil within 90 days, offering a solution to single-use plastics.
Pathway Description: The process involves collecting used tea leaves from tea farms and factories, which are then sorted based on their chemical composition. The leaves are processed using three patented technologies: PrZence for composite materials, FmZence for biodegradable paper and packaging, and EnZence for biodegradable plastic alternatives. These processes break down the tea leaves into powder or fibers, which are molded into products like cups, furniture, and packaging. The result is a sustainable, biodegradable alternative to plastics.
