Application
Description This project explores the use of buckwheat hulls in creating pillows, originating from Japan and also known as sobakawa pillows. The firm, moldable hulls offer adjustable support for the head, neck, and shoulders, making them ideal for those with neck pain. Buckwheat pillows also provide temperature regulation and durability, with hypoallergenic benefits. However, the hulls are not washable, and some users experience skin irritation.
Pathway Description: The process involves using buckwheat husks as a filling material for pillows. These husks are packed into a pillowcase, and their small, rigid shape allows for adjustability to suit individual head and neck shapes. The husks provide temperature regulation due to their breathability and firm support, making them a natural alternative to traditional pillow fillings like foam or down.
