•  NTPC and Chempolis India have signed an MoU to explore the feasibility of setting up a bamboo-based bio-refinery in Bongaigaon, Assam.
  • The bio-refinery will produce ethanol, furfural, acetic acid and bio-coal from bamboo, which is abundantly available in the region.
  • Bamboo has a lower moisture content than most other biomass, which means it requires less drying and has a higher calorific value. So, bamboo is a promising biomass source for sustainable and clean energy production.
