Biofuels, working on paraffinic green diesel: BIS developed 9 standards

1. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has developed nine standards for biofuels and is working on a standard for paraffinic (green) diesel derived from second-generation (2G) feedstock.
2. The USA, Brazil, and India are leading producers and consumers of biofuels, contributing 85% of global ethanol production and 81% of consumption.
3. The global ethanol market, valued at USD 99 billion in 2022, is expected to grow at a 5% CAGR by 2032, benefiting Indian industries and promoting job creation.
