Bioethanol Production from Potatoes: CPRI

• The Central Potato Research Institute (CPRI) in Shimla plans to develop new potato varieties for bioethanol production.
• CPRI scientists have successfully tested ethanol production from potatoes, using damaged or surplus potatoes in the interim.
• With 15% of India’s potato yield often wasted, this initiative supports India’s ethanol blending targets of 20% by 2025 and 30% by 2030.
