UP Govt Clears Rs 550 Crore Bioenergy Projects to Prevent Stubble Burning

• The Uttar Pradesh government has approved 12 private sector bioenergy projects worth Rs 550 crore, which will produce over 90 tonnes of compressed biogas (CBG) and 44 kilolitres (kl) of biodiesel per day from agricultural waste.

• The projects are part of the state’s bioenergy policy, which aims to prevent stubble burning, a major source of air pollution and greenhouse gas emissions. The state is also offering various incentives and subsidies to attract more investment in the bioenergy sector.
