Assam’s First Bamboo-Based Biorefinery to Start Operations by March

1. With an annual processing capacity of 300 tonnes of bamboo, the biorefinery is poised to become a cornerstone in India’s biofuel landscape, contributing approximately 70,000 liters of ethanol to the nation’s energy mix each year.
2. Beyond its environmental benefits, the project holds immense socio-economic promise, with direct employment opportunities for 60 individuals and an estimated 400 indirect jobs, injecting vitality into Assam’s economy and fostering inclusive growth.
3. Supported by an investment of $12 million (approximately INR 87 crore), the biorefinery underscores India’s commitment to green technology innovation and economic diversification, positioning the nation as a leader in sustainable development.
