- The ADB will lend $91 million to SAEL Industries, India’s leading renewable energy company, to build five biomass power plants in Rajasthan.
- The power plants will fuel agricultural residues such as rice husk, straw, and bagasse. This will help reduce air pollution caused by burning agricultural residue, a common practice in India.
- The project is expected to generate 544 gigawatt-hours of clean energy per year, which is enough to power about 400,000 homes. This will help reduce India’s reliance on fossil fuels and improve air quality. The project is expected to avoid up to 487,200 tons of carbon dioxide emissions annually. This will help mitigate climate change and improve air quality.
