1. Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) will invest Rs 1,400 crore to establish sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) facilities. The facilities will be set up at BPCL’s Mumbai, Kochi, and Bina refineries.
  2. BPCL aims to achieve 5% SAF blending by 2030, supporting the Indian government’s blending targets. BPCL is considering multiple technology pathways, including co-processing oil to jet fuel and establishing greenfield facilities for SAF production.
  3. This move aligns with global trends and previous initiatives by Indian Oil Corp and Mangalore Refineries in SAF production.
