- ONGC and EverEnviron have formed a joint venture to establish 10 compressed biogas (CBG) plants across India, marking a significant move towards enhancing the country’s renewable energy infrastructure.
- The new plants will utilize organic waste, such as agricultural residues, food waste, and animal manure, to produce compressed biogas through anaerobic digestion. This renewable biogas will be purified and compressed, making it suitable for various applications including transportation fuel, industrial energy source, cooking fuel, and power generation.
- The global biogas market, valued at approximately USD 25.1 billion in 2022, is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 10.3% from 2023 to 2030. This growth is driven by the increasing demand for renewable energy sources, advancements in biogas production technologies, and global efforts to reduce carbon footprints.
